ABDÜLHAK HAMİD SECTION

"Şair-i Azam" (The Grand Poet) Abdülhak Hamid Tarhan
 
Rooms in the north side of the house are organized as Şair-i Azam Abdülhak Hamid Tarhan Section. Hamid as an important man of letters of the period was also known with his statesmanship. Makber poem which Şair-i Azam wrote for his first wife Fatma is very famous.
 Hamid's last wife Lüsyen donated the belongings of the famous poet to Istanbul Municipality after his death (1937). The museum commission formed for transforming Aşiyan Museum into a literature museum decided to include Abdülhak Hamid Tarhan's belongings in the museum collection.

In the first room of the Hamid section, poet's rooltop desk, chair, cloths, books, photos of his family, wife and children are exhibited. When one enters the room, opposite there is a painting of Şair-i Azam signed by Prince Abdülmecid. This is an important work at the same size with Şair-i Azam.
